Monte Palomar Winery in Temecula

Mount Palomar Winery, located in the Temecula Valley wine appellation, is a fine wine estate dedicated to making wines of distinctive taste and high quality. Located among rolling hills and mesa lands at 1400 feet elevation, Mount Palomar is a working wine estate with 40 acres of producing vineyards overlooked by the Palomar Mountain range. John H. Poole started Mount Palomar's vineyards in 1969, pioneering the new wine region and growing the finest grapes possible. Formerly a radio electronics engineer and station owner, he wanted to establish a new agricultural business and enjoy the relaxed pace that accompanied it. Pioneering the new Temecula region was natural for him. John established the original Mount Palomar vineyards, and was our first winemaker in 1975. He created a place where people could immerse themselves in the world of fine wine in a pleasant and relaxed Wine Country atmosphere.

Wine Tastings at Mount Palomar Winery

Mount Palomar Winery wines are available at the winery and online. The wine tasting room is open to the public Monday - Thursday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Friday - Sunday 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. For your tasting pleaseure, they offer two tasting bars where you will select six wines from our extensive tasting menu. When the weather cooperates, you can also enjoy your wine tasting experience on our patio at our cozy, outdoor bar. Wine tastings cost $10. At Mount Palomar we also offer food and wine pairing tastings:

• Wine tasting and snacks $20.00 per person
  Includes a private tasting of 6 wines we pre-select for you
  accompanied by Mount Palomar Port Jelly, crackers, and
  candy kisses.
• Wine tasting with cheese and crackers $23.00 per person
  Includes a private tasting of any 6 wines from our wine list
  accompanied by a tray of assorted cheese and crackers.
• Private Barrel Tasting $30.00 per person
  (served in our Cava de Vino at no add’l fee)
  Taste two of our “Futures” wines direct from the barrel,
  two of our Best of Vintage wines and our best selling Port
  and Sherry.

The Taverna at Mount Palomar

In keeping with the warm sunshine and Mediterranean climate in the Temecula Valley, the Taverna at Mount Palomar offers a diverse array of Mediterranean inspired sandwiches, salads, dips, cheese trays, olives, pita chips, signature individual pizzas, and many other flavorful and healthy deli foods. Boar's Head products are also featured in the Taverna. Special orders can be called in advance. This is the perfect spot for a casual lunch that won't keep you from finishing your tasting plans for the day.

The winery and lush vineyards are situated on more than 315 acres in the heart of wine country and are the perfect location for your romantic winery wedding. You and your guests will be delighted with breathtaking views of the entire valley filled with meticulously cared for vineyards, spectacular terraces, a traditional winemaking facility and romantic photographic settings. Our “Vista Terrazo” for a romantic dinner under the stars or our intimate “Cava di Vino” for smaller, more intimate, formal events will provide you with a setting you will never forget.
